About me

I was born in 1957 and grew up in a small village on the outskirts of Zürich. After finishing school I worked in sports, car rental business and in an employment agency. I travelled a lot and lived abroad for long periods of time, mainly in England and France.
When I started my maternity leave in October 1992, my friends and colleagues made me a goodbye gift of easel, colours and some canvases.
This was when I moved on from doodling with pen and pencils to the ‘real’ paints and started my self-education in making art.
My second son was born in April 1995.

During this time I asked myself: what do I do, when the children are grown up? One day a friend suggested that I go into art therapy. I found the idea fascinating and in 2000 I decided to join GianCarlo Testas School of Art for a study that was to last three years.

In 2003, I opened my own art studio in Rüschlikon, where I offer classes to children and adults and, in private sessions only, art therapy for individuals.

Alone or in joint venture with others I produce, develop and lead workshops lasting from one day to a week, including the holiday period.

I also use the studio for my own personal creations that I exhibit from time to time.

2011   ‚endings and other beginnings‘  (a free translation of the German media-text by U.Spinner)

“Beginning includes an end”, or “where’s an end, there’s beginning”.
Giger plays with words and time and the pictures come and go in time. The smallest pictures (20x20) are far from being sweet, even if the form of the heart is omnipresent. The hearts operate in various materials: nails, tissue, gold colour, push-buttons – a transplantation into the cryptic, sometimes even into the wicked. Jack of hearts is next to the fluttering heart, heartache reminds of moments gone by, of when the end started to begin. Giger mistrusts the rigid limitation of known art compositions. She mounts the chaos of live onto the smallest of areas, looks for boundaries only to blast them again straight away.

Some of my works are for sale. Please contact me.
